More typewriter rambling

Here is a example of typecasting, which may appear on tiny dog soon. That is, as soon as I get a typewriter.

I'm poking around in the brittle old tome "Century of the Typewriter" by Wilfred A. Beeching, written only 32 years ago, and enjoying this musty prediction of future writing technology:

To gaze in the future is not really my province, but during the course of the production of this book, I have continually been asked 'what is the future of the typewriter'? Perhaps we we are on the verge of a revolutionary change such as has happened in recent years when mechanical calculators were superseded, almost overnight, by electric ones... Future development seems to lie in the direction of the electronic typewriter with electronic printout, with no moving or mechanical parts whatsoever. The day may come when a letter typed will appear in front of the author on a television screen, in any selected type face, and by selecting a button, be transferred automatically to sensitized paper.
