The damned broken ear! I am sure there are a few other Smokies out there with a broken ear, because this model is darned unstable on its feet, and rocks precariously. The Breyer Animal Collector's Guide says that the mold on this model was actually changed to correct this problem, but alas, too late for my Smoky. This model was on the cover of the 1981 Breyer catalog, and was a very exciting new-type horse that year, and the whole broken ear thing was a real debacle for me.
