Bad painters and the things they paint: featured paintings

Bad Painters is an occasional watercolor series which will more than likely feature painters with little to no painting skill.

The current unnamed selection, through no fault of my own, depicts the act of smoking by atypical smokers, such as bluejays, plants, and babies. I never start out painting with the intention of depicting smokers but somehow, before the paint dries, the subject has a cigarette in its mouth.

I think this is inspired by that ultra-serious "shooting the shit" thing people do at parties in their youth.

Bluejay Bitching to Cat

This panting concerns a cat who is offended by a bluejay's remark during a casual conversation. Although I painted this, I have no idea what the offending comment actually was.

Close-up of Bluejay Bitching to Cat

There are two perspectives of this painting: above is the actual painting (which was slightly too large to fit onto my scanner), and at left is a close-up of the bluejay.

Morning Daisy

This is a watercolor rendering of a thing I have drawn in the margins of notebooks and printouts since time began: the smoking flower.
