2001| Shocking
revelation: tiny dog breeders suck at web design
While looking
up dog Web sites on the Internet today, I realized that all such
sites, usually designed (if you can use the word in this context)
by breeders of, say, Boston Terriers or Chihuahuas, committed
many of the same heinous Web design crimes.
The similarity
and repetitiveness of their design crimes forced me to conclude
that there is a strong correlation between breeding small dogs,
and having no clue whatsoever about advances in Web design beyond
the year 1996.
Don't make
the same mistakes as our tiny dog-breeding brethren, my friends.
If your own site contains any of the following aesthetic gaffes,
it's time to redesign.
- Geocities
- beveled
buttons
- Web rings
- "welcome
to my home page"
-
| Tables
with big 15 pixel borders |
- Times
New Roman
- "sign
my guestbook"
- pages
that scroll and scroll
Animated
gifs... especially of e-mail icons or "under construction"
logos
- Centered
everything
- Patterned
backgrounds
- MIDI
